Another Evening…

…drinking cheap red wine, surrounded by sleeping dogs, hypnotizing myself with my Kaossilator Pro. What an addictive little noisemaker this thing is. Maybe someday before this box turns my neurons to complete mush I will clean some of this stuff up and let it see the light of day (or of night).

I’ve seen these guys on the roof from time to time. And I’m glad that the smallest of the dogs here likes to stay inside, as there’s some evidence that the Great Horned Owl (Bubo Virginianus) will take small dogs as prey in Central Texas.

Well, this has never happened before…

At an agility trial last weekend I was hanging out with one of my former students and her dogs, when, in all seriousness, she asked me if she could put me in her will to take her pups in the event of her death. If this were to ever happen, I don’t know how I’d deal with adding two more to the pack of four that live here. But I’ve known her and her dogs for years, and her pups are small and well-behaved and cute, and so we’d all make do somehow.

Day 15: Favourite monster movie
The Company of Wolves
It’s just a beautiful film. I don’t even know whether it’s an actual horror movie, although there are definitely enough werewolves in it to qualify. It’s inspired by the short story by Angela Carter, and she was heavily involved in the film. Like Ginger Snaps, it’s another coming-of-age story focusing on a girl who has just started going through puberty, but it’s dream-like and fantastical and erotic, and just so stunning. I’ll never get tired of it.

The three on the right? They look pretty much like one of the beasts who makes her home here. Belgian Tervurens, by breed. Super were-wolfy looking, but really smart and trainable. Perfect for films.

Sheltie puppies are an auto-reblog. And, oh yeah, this is my 100th post. And also oh yeah, I realize for lots of you, that’s about 2 days of work.
