auntada: Young woman holding hawk Winterville, North Carolina (Pitt County) July 6, 1963 The Daily Reflector Image Collection, Joyner Library, East Carolina University Except that I’m pretty sure that’s an owl, probably a Great Horned Owl (Bubo Virginianus)  That doesn’t look like a raptor’s body to me, and the pattern of the feathers matches a Great Horned Owl exactly, as does the wingspan. And, oh yeah, I dig the white micro cat’s-eye shades.
